Overview Provides escort service for patients within the Medical Center.
Responsibilities - Escorts patients within the Medical Center to and from patient units via appropriate means of transportation (e.g., wheelchair, bed, stretcher, crib). Escorts are expected to maintain a courteous manner toward patient at all times.
- Transports deceased patients to morgue.
- Maintains records of assignments, including description of person/item, time of pick up and delivery, obtaining appropriate signatures as required.
- Ensures safety and comfort of patient (e.g., makes sure safety rails are properly positioned when transporting patients on stretchers, wheelchairs and beds). Assures that patient has proper covers.
- Checks that IV pole is firmly attached and that the IV bag is full. Reports any looseness of pole attachment or problems with IV bag promptly to supervisor.
- Verifies that equipment (e.g., stretchers, wheelchairs, cribs) is in working order and clean as needed for patient use. Reports any damaged equipment promptly to supervisor.
- Ensures that required equipment (i.e. radio) is present and functioning properly at start of shift.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalency.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of previous patient care experience preferred.
Skills: Good oral communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
Pay Range USD $23.90 - USD $24.43 /Hr.
