Fluor and Energy Materials, an Orbia business, is looking for a HR Generalist to be based in Tokyo, Japan.

Main Purpose

To serve as a primary contact for people related objectives . Support, assess, communicate and implement people-related needs and be a trusted advisor for daily people related activities as a People Generalist.

Main Responsibilities

  • Align People strategies with business objectives for Fluor and Energy Materials APAC region . Build partnership with local managers and act as a trusted advisor to address people-related topics .
  • Execute day-to-day people & general affairs operations and resolve any issues that may arise, implement employee policies and foster positive employee relations.
  • Support the implementation of people program s by collaborating with regional leaders and people stakeholders (Total Rewards, HRIS, Talent Development and other People function leaders) and to ensure successful execution and facilitate change management in the regions.
  • Manage and monitor employee performance-related issues, and implement changes as needed. Assist in creating a culture of learning and professional development and strengthen the regions’ successor pipeline. Assist in training implementation as needed.
  • Conduct employee onboarding and help organize training and development initiatives.
  • Manage the payroll process , recruiting and local personnel processes/policies to ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Ensure the accuracy of HRIS data accuracy and prepare people-related reports and documentation related to people for audits and internal use.
  • Plan and implement DEI activities in the region to improve DEI experiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any business area.

Knowledge/ Experience Required

  • 5 years of Human Resources experience as a generalist or related role.
  • Solid understanding of Human Resource s technical areas including but not limited to; compensation practices, recruiting, HRIS, employee relations, performance management, and learning and development.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced environment.
  • Business level proficiency in English. Native/Business level in Japanese.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience dealing with external unions is a plus.
  • Experience working in the chemical industry would be advantageous.
  • Able to travel occasionally.
