Our Client

Our client is seeking a Vice-President, Tax Insurance Specialist to join their Mergers & Acquisitions practice. The successful candidate will originate, structure, and execute tax insurance solutions while serving as a trusted advisor to clients across various industries.

Responsibilities

• Lead the underwriting and placement of tax insurance policies for both transactional and non-transactional matters.
• Review and analyze tax memoranda, legal opinions, and financial statements to assess insurable tax risks.
• Develop tailored tax insurance solutions and negotiate policy terms with insurers.
• Identify new market opportunities and support business development initiatives.
• Educate clients and internal teams on tax insurance products.
• Represent the organization at industry events, panels, and conferences (travel as required).
• Monitor evolving tax legislation, case law, and regulatory developments affecting insurable risks.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to private equity firms, pension funds, corporations, financial institutions, and legal counsel.
• Present tax insurance solutions in the context of M&A and other tax-sensitive matters.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and insurers.
• Collaborate with related insurance practices to deliver integrated client solutions.
• Mentor junior team members and promote high technical and client-service standards.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of experience as a tax advisor within a top-tier law firm, major accounting firm, or tax advisory practice.
• Strong transactional tax background; cross-border or complex structuring experience preferred.
• Experience in tax insurance, M&A insurance, or risk advisory is an asset.
• Strong technical knowledge of tax law and risk assessment.
• Skilled negotiator with the ability to structure complex agreements.
• Excellent communication and client-facing abilities, with talent for simplifying complex issues.
• Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and able to work independently when needed.
• High level of integrity, judgment, and commercial awareness.
