Position Summary
Transporter, Linen, Support Services Your goal in this position is to transport linen and carts to and from the various wards. You're able to work independently and as a team, you communicate effectively with colleagues, staff and residents, and provide excellent customer service. This position supports the hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.
On a practical level, you will
- Delivers clean linen to nursing units, OR, CSS, Clinics, etc., and picks up soiled linen.
- Receives, stores, and distributes linen and uniforms from the Linen Room using the monitoring system.
- Picks up soiled linen bags with empty carts from units/departments and stores in the loading truck.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
- Labels clothing using labelling machine.
- Alterations on staff uniforms.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Grade 12th or equivalent.
- Read, write and speak English.
- Demonstrate interpersonal, organization and communication skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and to prioritize.
- Sewing experience necessary.
- Works safely in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

This is a Part Time Regular position with 4 and 8 hour shifts, days and weekends shifts in the Linen, Support Services department. We offer a highly competitive total compensation package which includes pay in lieu of benefits, vacation pay and the opportunity to join the Hospital Pension Plan.
