As a pivotal component of the University's strategy, OIST Innovation aims to cultivate an innovative ecosystem in Okinawa that integrates technology transfer, industry partnerships, and startup incubation. 

The Technology Development Specialist will play a key role in managing the Proof of Concept (POC) Program, an internal, competitive funding program designed to bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and commercial applications. The role supports activities ranging from early applied research to advanced prototype demonstration and individual fellowships for entrepreneurial-minded scientists. The ultimate goal is to foster innovation and enhance technology transfer, helping OIST inventions and scientific outcomes transform into new products and services that benefit society. 

Responsibilities:

1. Manage technology development research within the Proof of Concept (POC) Program.
2. Oversee project milestones and budgets in coordination with POC Program awardees.
3. Identify and pursue opportunities for collaboration and technology transfer.
4. Support the overall management of the POC Program, including application, review, implementation, and evaluation of projects.
5. Support other activities such as the mentoring program, entrepreneurship training, and professional development opportunities for the OIST community.
6. Assist in negotiation of agreements with industry, including NDAs, MTAs, Collaborative Research Agreements, and Licensing Agreements.
7. Manage relationships with consultants, contractors, vendors, and industrial partners.
8. Work in coordination with colleagues in OIST Innovation—including licensing, venture, and business development specialists—to establish relationships with potential industry collaborators, licensees, and investors.

技術開発スペシャリスト は、研究室での発見と商業的応用のギャップを埋めることを目的とした学内の競争的資金調達プログラムであるProof of Concept（POC）プログラムの管理において重要な役割を果たします。このポジションは、初期の応用研究から先進的なプロトタイプの実証、起業家精神旺盛な科学者のための個人フェローシップまで、幅広い活動をサポートします。最終的な目標は、イノベーションを促進し、技術移転を強化することであり、OISTの発明や科学的成果が社会に貢献する新製品やサービスに生まれ変わるよう支援します。 

職務内容：

1. Proof of Concept（POC）プログラム内の技術開発研究の管理
2. POCプログラム採択者との連携を通じた、プロジェクトのマイルストーンと予算の管理
3. 共同研究及び技術移転の機会の特定、追求
4. プロジェクトの申請、審査、実施、評価を含む、POCプログラムの全体的な管理のサポート
5. OIST コミュニティのためのメンタリング・プログラム、起業家育成研修、専門能力 開発機会等のその他の活動支援
6. NDA、MTA、共同研究契約、ライセンス契約等、産業界との契約交渉支援
7. コンサルタント、コントラクター、ベンダー、産業界のパートナーとの関係の管理
8. ライセンシング、ベンチャー、事業開発のスペシャリストを含む OIST Innovationの同僚と連携を通じた、潜在的な産業界の協力者、ライセンシー、投資家との関係構築

応募必要条件

スキル・資格

(Required)

1. PhD in a relevant field (life sciences, chemistry, engineering, physics, biotechnology, or environmental sciences), or a minimum of 5 years of relevant research experience.
2. Experience in project management, including planning, budget monitoring, deliverables tracking, and reporting.
3. Business-level proficiency in English and Japanese, with strong reading comprehension and writing skills for research documentation and agreements in both languages.
4. Effective communication skills to support collaboration between OIST researchers and industry partners in Japan and abroad.
5. Excellent time management, teamwork, and organizational skills. 

(Preferred)

1. Experience in technology transfer or business development.

2. 計画立案、予算管理、成果物追跡、報告等のプロジェクト管理経験
3. ビジネスレベルの英語力・日本語力と、両言語での研究文書や契約書の読解力・作成能力
4. OISTの研究者と国内外の産業界パートナーとのコラボレーションをサポートするための効果的なコミュニケーションスキル
5. 時間管理、チームワーク、組織運営に優れていること
