The technical writer works with a range of stakeholders to determine the appropriate type of end-user documentation required for airport software applications.
The technical writer takes full ownership of the assigned documentation projects, and designs, develops and delivers the required deliverables, such as user guides and online help.
A technical writer may also be involved with UX writing activities.
A technical writer may also be called upon to peer review colleagues' work or to provide guidance or mentoring.
Main responsibilities:
1. Take full ownership of user documentation for airport software applications:
- Be an effective all-round communicator and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Be a self-starter for assigned products and proactively build understanding and expertise in the product area.
- Prioritise projects and activities.
2. Work out what users need and design the best solution:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand the product learning requirements.
- Analyse technical documentation, like specs and user stories.
- Consider the audience to understand their learning needs according to their business objectives and expertise.
- Identify the content that customers need to fulfill their business needs.
3. Develop and publish content in line with analysis findings:
- Write task-based instructions or conceptual information in clear and concise user-focused language.
- Update existing content following SME feedback or troubleshooting responses from customer support.
- Make sure the content is peer reviewed for quality assurance and validated by the SMEs.
- Publish the content making sure it conforms with department standards and quality guidelines.
Education and relevant work experience:
Required:
Degree or work experience in Technical Writing.
Writing and communicating in English as the primary language.
Experience working with technical authoring applications.
Useful experience:
UX writing.
Experience in writing hardware documentation.
Work in a multicultural environment.
Working with colleagues from different sites.
Understanding of airport operations, ground handling activities or the aviation industry.
This job may require some travel. For example, for onboarding or meeting product teams.
