Our Red Chris operation is now recruiting for the position of Mill Operator II with a competitive hourly rate of $47.10. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills and competencies with consideration to internal equity. 

We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.  

 

Purpose of the Role

Maintain continuous monitoring of Mill process plant equipment and production parameters. Interact with Circuit Operators to ensure appropriate actions are taken to safely and efficiently meet production targets. Communicate with site wide departments to ensure clear information transfer between personnel.

Accountabilities

Principal Duties:

  • Monitor and control the Mill Grinding circuit to achieve maximum throughput and target grinds for Flotation feed.
  • Monitor process and fire water systems, immediately reporting any malfunctions that may affect production targets or personnel safety.
  • Monitor the Flotation Circuit parameters and process performance informing the Flotation Operator of observations and making changes in consultation with the Flotation Operator.
  • Monitor reagent delivery and addition systems and air systems including blowers and compressors.
  • Monitor concentrate thickener performance and make adjustments in consultation with the Dewatering Operator.
  • Assist Crusher Operators when requested.
  • Actively communicate with all departments as required.
  • Respond with urgency to process alarms and initiate corrective action to minimize circuit upsets.
  • Maintain legible records of daily operating conditions and information pertinent to relief
  • crews.
  • Apprise Supervisor of operational conditions and any factors that are having a negative effect on production targets.
  • Complete daily reports and fill in log book.
  • Perform shift to shift crossovers.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Occupational Health and Safety:

Control Room Operators must;

  • Ensure the safe operation of equipment in their area.
  • Wear all required PPE.
  • Ensure a high level of housekeeping.
  • Be proactive in hazard identification, mitigation and rectification.
  • Adhere to all safety standards, and ensure compliance by employees working in their area.
  • Adhere to all relevant SOP’S and follow safe operating practices.
  • Identify and report dangerous occurrences. HSRC (sec. 1.7.1 – 1.7.3)

Teamwork:

  • Participate in crew meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive working atmosphere.

About You  

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:   

  • Valid driver’s license. (can be an L)
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be capable of working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Must have minimum 5 years Mill operating experience including Grinding and Flotation.
  • 18 years of age by start date.
  • Ability to preform tasks that require strength and stamina in extreme weather conditions.
  • A team player that works well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
