Responsibilities: - Assume responsibility for the efficient operation of all boilers and related energy equipment for the Hospital.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain the hospital's power plant systems, including boilers, chillers, generators, and related energy equipment.
- Conduct routine and specially scheduled inspections of equipment, identify potential issues, and perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Perform repairs and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, utilizing technical knowledge and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve problems. Record and use detailed account of readings and logs of test runs.
- Maintain and repair facility buildings, machinery and mechanical equipment including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, non-clinical equipment and installations and construction.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in HVAC technology, attending relevant training sessions or workshops as required.
- Comply with all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance, ensuring their work meets hospital standards and requirements.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior maintenance staff, sharing your expertise and knowledge.
- Adhere to requirements of all codes, standards, Hospital, and Department policies and procedures. Particular attention must be given to safety related items. Must report observed unsafe situations and practices.
- A member of the maintenance "on-call" team.
- Other Duties as Assigned.
Additional Competencies and Skills: *Candidates may acquire these skills through on-the-job training*
- Technical certification or vocational training in maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or similar role, ideally in a hospital or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, with familiarity in HVAC systems and medical gas systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing various types of equipment and systems.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards applicable to healthcare facilities.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and work in various positions.
Working Hours: This is a full-time, first shift position with a rotating after hours on-call schedule.
