Lead Business Analyst, Pharma

Description:

The Senior Business Analyst plays a critical role within our Commercial Excellence or Data Engineering & Management team, driving data-informed business strategies in the pharmaceutical commercial domain. This role focuses on analyzing complex datasets, gathering business requirements, and delivering actionable insights that optimize omnichannel engagement across HCPs (healthcare professionals), patients, and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of pharmaceutical commercial models. You will collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, sales, IT, and data teams to ensure business objectives are supported with the right data and analytics frameworks.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary Onsite Engagement Lead for Product Owners across IT (DDIT) and Digital Data Enablement (GBS) workstreams, ensuring alignment between business goals and technical execution.
  • Requirements Gathering & Impact Assessment : Translate business needs into actionable goals and objectives, assessing downstream impact across data and digital tracks.
  • Strategic Planning & Roadmap Development : Collaborate with client stakeholders to shape track-level roadmaps and long-term planning initiatives.
  • Team Mentorship & Governance: Guide the team on prioritization, documentation standards, and project governance best practices.
  • Consultative Data Engineering Support: Partner with client Solution Architect and internal Technical Lead to evaluate data engineering routes and integration feasibility.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake, AWS, and DataIku platforms with SQL
  • Familiarity with BI tools such as PowerBI and Streamlit for data visualization and reporting
  • Client-Facing Technical Support: Address platform and code-level troubleshooting requests, promote modular design principles, and coordinate with matrixed client teams to resolve issues proactively.
  • Forward-Looking Innovation : Working knowledge of Generative AI and Agentic AI technologies to support future-ready solutioning and automation opportunities.
  • Create and maintain detailed business requirement documents (BRDs), functional requirement documents (FRDs), and user stories
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings to identify pain points and opportunities in the current customer journey and engagement strategies.
  • Act as the bridge between business users and technical/data teams, ensuring mutual understanding and successful project outcomes.

Must Have

• 8+ years of experience in program management, business analysis, and data enablement roles, with a strong focus on digital transformation and data engineering initiatives preferably in life sciences or allied industries

• Hands-on experience with modern data platforms including Snowflake , AWS , and DataIku ; proficient in SQL for data querying and transformation.

• Familiarity with BI and reporting tools such as Power BI and Streamlit for data visualization and dashboarding.

• Proven ability to lead cross-functional engagements, acting as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, IT, and data teams.

• Expertise in translating business needs into actionable requirements, conducting impact assessments, and shaping strategic roadmaps.

• Strong documentation skills with experience creating BRDs , FRDs , and user stories ; adept at facilitating workshops and stakeholder interviews.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; experienced in working with matrixed teams and resolving technical issues in client-facing environments.

• Knowledge of Generative AI and Agentic AI technologies, with an interest in applying them to automation and future-ready solutions.

• Strong governance and team leadership capabilities, including mentoring, prioritization, and enforcing documentation standards.
