Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time instructor to teach the Assistance with Medications course for Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) as well as Basic Medication Awareness for Certified Family Home (CFH) providers. These courses equip students with the essential knowledge and skills required to safely assist with medications in compliance with Idaho state regulations. The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse (RN) or Pharmacist with a strong understanding of medication management and a passion for teaching and mentoring future healthcare professionals.Typical Job Functions

  • Teach both the Assistance with Medications course for UAPs and the Basic Medication Awareness course for CFH providers, covering classroom instruction and practical skills training.
  • Educate students on medication administration, documentation, safety protocols, and Idaho state regulations relevant to their roles.
  • Ensure all course content complies with the current Idaho State requirements for UAPs assisting with medication, including state regulations, guidelines, and safety standards.
  • Assess students’ understanding and competency through written tests and practical skills evaluations. Provide constructive feedback to students to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including attendance, assessments, and course completion documentation, in accordance with institutional and state guidelines.
  • Check classroom inventory and notify the program coordinator when supplies need to be ordered.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and healthcare professionals to enhance training programs.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

Licensure:
Must be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or licensed pharmacist in the state of Idaho.

  • RN: Must hold an active, unrestricted license to practice nursing in Idaho.
  • Pharmacist: Must hold an active, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in Idaho.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting (nursing, pharmacy, or related field).
  • Experience in teaching, training, or mentoring others is highly preferred.
  • Incumbent must reside in Idaho (Currently CEI doesn’t sponsor H-1B Visas)
Additional Desired Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of medication administration, drug classifications, dosage calculations, routes of administration, and the role of UAPs in medication assistance.
  • Familiarity with Idaho state regulations and guidelines related to UAPs and medication assistance.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex medical concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.
  • Experience working in an educational or clinical training environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple students and educational responsibilities effectively.
  • Passion for teaching and helping others develop their skills and knowledge in a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrate patience and adaptability when working with students for whom English is a second language (ESL), ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform activities involving standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to demonstrate medication administration techniques for practical training purposes.
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.

Onsite work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.
