Data Science Director (Advertising Technology) | Tokyo | 12-20M JPY

We're looking for a hands-on Data Science Leader to help drive innovation in the digital advertising space. If you love applying machine learning to real-world problems and want to help build top-tier ad-tech products, this is the role for you.

What You'll Do
・Enhance prediction models and features for advertising platforms
・Develop pricing optimization logic to maximize ad inventory value
・Build recommendation systems for dynamic creative and product suggestions
・Define and share the vision for future data science initiatives
・Mentor junior data scientists on the team
・Communicate strategy and technical work clearly across the business

・Languages: Python
・Databases: Clickhouse, MySQL, BigQuery
・Cloud: GCP
・Tools: GitLab, Slack, Redmine, Confluence, plus AI coding assistants
・Hardware: Mac

Team & Environment
・1 Manager, 2 Team Leads, ~9 Data Scientists
・Collaborative engineering culture with autonomy and broad scope
・Flexible work style: primarily in-office with 2 days/week remote option

Who We're Looking For
・3+ years in data science or machine learning for marketing, advertising, or related fields
・Strong Python skills and experience in applied ML
・Enjoys diving deep into ad-tech challenges and pushing technical boundaries
・Able to communicate technical vision to both engineering and business teams
・Proactive, curious, and excited about continuous improvement
・Fluent Japanese required; English is a plus

Nice-to-Have
・PhD or Master's in a related field
・Experience with generative AI or advanced ML
・Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
・Proven track record applying new technologies to business needs
・Understanding of technical challenges in the advertising industry
