The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) promotes University-wide inclusive excellence in graduate education, research and professional training to ensure high standards across the various academic divisions, as well as supporting postdoctoral fellows. SGS defines and administers University-wide regulations for graduate education. We share responsibility for graduate education with graduate units and divisions and operates through a system of collegial governance, consultation, and decanal leadership.
SGS also provides expertise and advice; reviews the design and delivery of programs; develops performance standards; supports access, equitable inclusion, fairness, and ethical conduct in graduate education; organizes services and financial assistance to graduate students; encourages a close and positive relationship between research and graduate instruction and represents the cause of graduate education at the University of Toronto and in the broader academic and general community.

Your opportunity:
The incumbent acts as the first point of contact for potential graduate applicants and is responsible and accountable for providing day-to-day customer service to prospective graduate students. This includes, but is not limited to responding to inquiries from prospective applicants; triaging issues and referring to the appropriate staff member; responding to all routine-front line inquiries about admissions, the SGS Admission system, exchanges; providing administrative support to the efforts of the Admissions Office. The incumbent assists with the organization of recruitment and admissions events such as fairs, information sessions, Open Houses and workshops and assists with mailings and compiles customer service statistics.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Assisting with organizing SGS events (applicant conversion events, admissions workshops, etc.)
• Maintaining electronic and student interactive communication pieces related to admissions and exchanges
• Ensuring that websites, databases, chats and other media, are up-to-date, accessible and information is presented in an attractive and informative way
• Advising University staff involved in graduate student recruitment, promoting collaboration between SGS and other offices
• Triaging prospect/applicant questions about recruitment, admissions, and exchange opportunities, resolving or referring as appropriate
• Attending fairs, acting as SGS ambassador to promote graduate studies at UofT
• Compiling statistics (leads, applications, offers, accepts, enrolments) to assess effectiveness of recruitment activities
• Conducting SGS information sessions on admissions requirements and process for prospective students
Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a university setting preferably in graduate admissions.
• Experience providing detailed information and explanations on policies and procedures preferably within a post secondary institution environment.
• Previous experience in event planning, preferably in a University setting.
• Experience providing front-line service to graduate students.
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups, both verbally and in writing.
Assets (Nonessential):
• Data entry and ROSI experience is an asset.
• Experience using content management systems and/or experience in web design is preferred.
• Familiarity with the University's policies, structure and systems.
