YMCA of Southwestern Ontario was founded in 1856 and has over 200 locations from Goderich to Point Pelee, and Windsor to Woodstock. We are one of the largest not-for-profit providers of licensed child care in Canada and have over 100 school age programs across our regions. We also offer settlement services to newcomers, employment programs, mental health support, and youth programs. YMCA of Southwestern Ontario operates two overnight camps, one in Point Pelee National Park, and one on Beausoleil Island in Muskoka. Employees and volunteers of YMCA of Southwestern Ontario are ambassadors for the Y both on and off the job. Position: Youth Worker, Alternative Suspension Program
Type: Full-time Contract

Start Date: March 10, 2025
Salary range: $48,000 - $54,000

As part of your total compensation:
• Receive a complimentary YMCA personal membership to our Health & Fitness facilities, and discounts on YMCA child care and camp programs
• Vacation – 4% vacation earnings upon hire on each pay, and increasing as per ESA requirements
• Personal Days – Full-time contract employees will earn 0.5 days/month to a maximum of 6 paid personal days per year plus 4 unpaid days.
• Benefits package applicable after 1 full year of employment, as per full-time contract role

In this role, you will:
• Provide individual and group interventions for youth struggling with their school environment (12 to 17 years), within a supportive and helping relationship.
• Assist with homework in core academic subjects.
• Lead reflective workshops.
• Maintain strong relationships with high school partners.
• Manage and prepare reports, evaluations, and program representations.
• Develop an intervention approach aligned with the program’s established objectives.
• Understand and integrate the value of philanthropy within their role and the Association, and participate in fundraising activities/events to support the program.
• .Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures
Education & Skills Qualifications:
• Post-secondary diploma or certificate (college or university) in intervention or a related field.
• Have 2 to 3 years of experience in intervention, specifically with a 12–17-year-old demographic.
• Possess excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written
• .First Aid/ CPR Certified is an asset
• Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Position Screen is a condition of employment for all staff and volunteers
