About our client:

Our client is a well-established roofing company based out of Kelowna, BC. They are known for roofing and specialty wall services, servicing commercial, residential and institutional markets. Projects are complex and niche.

Our client’s current incumbent is retiring after 30+ years of tenure. As a result, we are looking to hire a VP Construction to join their team.

The VP Construction is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of operations and construction projects within the company to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

The total compensation package will include a base salary, bonus, RRSP matching, full benefits, company truck and gas card, and other benefits. Total compensation for the base salary and bonus is $180-210k plus benefits and car compensation, depending on the candidate’s experience. Our client is willing to relocate the right candidate to Kelowna for the position.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management, Estimation, and Execution of Building Envelope, Wall System, Waterproofing and Roofing Projects
  • Lead and manage key departments (Project Management & Field Operations) ensuring projects and services are completed on time and on budget
  • Establishes processes, protocols, and standard operating procedures for scheduling, logistics, construction management, and cost evaluation for construction projects.
  • Oversees all company construction activities, obtains approvals, and ensures work is completed correctly, on time, and within budget.
  • Reduces costs, reviews project standards, and approves construction specifications according to industry and trade standards.
  • Supports company estimating and bidding activities, ensuring complete and accurate estimates are produced to win work in fixed price contract market.
  • Supervises project managers, project administrators, trade superintendents, and site personnel while maintaining H&S standards.
  • Runs operations, and leadership meetings to facilitate communication between business functions.
  • Resolves critical construction issues with project owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, and project consultants.
  • Stays informed of trade specific standards, public policy and law changes and maintains an active awareness of construction market trends.
  • Assesses risk and opportunities and optimizes business line performance.
  • Determines the types of equipment and materials needed to complete construction work.

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Senior Project Manager within general contracting, or senior level experience in roofing or a related subtrade.
  • Progressive construction management experience, including technical knowledge of the project life cycle and relevant functions, ideally in commercial construction (i.e., B2B).
  • Proven track record working in a family business (although profit oriented, values overrule money.
  • Knowledge of EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System).
  • Experience leading teams and building an empowering and collaborative culture.
  • Ability to manage multiple commercial projects of up to $5M each.
  • Growth mindset.
