Senior Technical Manager

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Technical Manager to join a global data centre organisation and oversee the technical operations of cutting-edge data centre facilities in Osaka, Japan.

As a Senior Technical Manager, you will be part of the site’s Operations Team and take ownership of all technical aspects of large-scale data centre environments, with a strong focus on electrical infrastructure and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities for this Senior Technical Manager role:

• Oversee the data centre’s technical systems, including electrical distribution, UPS, generators, fire safety, security, and building management systems

• Plan, schedule, and manage both preventive and emergency maintenance tasks

• Maintain uninterrupted support for critical loads using validated operational procedures

• Implement strategies to ensure continuous availability and resilience of all technical systems

• Lead and supervise contract staff, coordinating training and performance plans

• Audit and oversee services delivered by external vendors and contractors

• Manage budgets, costs, and resource allocation across technical operations

• Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and standardisation across the site’s engineering functions

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and design teams to ensure optimised technical solutions

Requirements for this Senior Technical Manager role:

• Strong technical background in large-scale data centre operations, particularly electrical systems

• Extensive experience in facility management or engineering within high-availability environments

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and organisational skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Project, with strong technical documentation abilities

• Fluent verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English

• Flexibility to respond to operational issues or emergencies outside normal working hours

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field (preferred)

• Class 2 Chief Electrical Engineer Licence or higher is advantageous
