About the role

As a Systems Engineer, you are responsible for managing key components of enterprise solutions delivery. You will participate in planning, designing, installing, testing, monitoring, and ongoing administration of various core solutions within Guardant Health’s global technology infrastructure. This includes ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability while adhering to security and compliance best practices. You will participate in business assessments and work with a global team of systems engineers.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Virtual and Hybrid Data Center Monitoring and Management: AWS, Active Directory, Vmware
• On-premise and co-location systems design and operations
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the provisioning and configuring of hardware (compute and storage nodes)
• Provide assistance in configuring various Network infrastructure components: Cisco, Cisco-Meraki, Palo Alto Networks, Mist
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for provisioning and configuring SAN storage and interconnect infrastructures
• Troubleshoot and administer Linux-based production systems (Ubuntu, RHEL) and Windows Server
• Assist with developing and automating actions associated with policies of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Assist with the development and enforcement of security measures to comply with ISO/IEC 27000 and HIPAA
• Code with programming/scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, and Java
• Debug Operating System and Application issues (server, storage, network, security, vendor, application, hardware, end user, etc.)
• Support and aid software and hardware projects
• Coordinate and collaborate between IT functions and line-of-business operations to ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of enterprise solutions

Qualifications

• BS Degree in CS, EE, or MIS
• Fluent in English and Business level in Japanese
• Knowledge of Virtualization technologies: vSphere vCenter, ESXi, FT/HA or other hypervisor (Hyper-V, KVM, Xen)
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix, solid knowledge of Unix network protocols and TCP/IP network fundamentals
• Knowledge of Windows OS environments
• Knowledge of MAC OS environments
• Knowledge of DevOps standards and IaC deployments
• Knowledge of infrastructure protocols (PKI, DNS, TLS, SSH, SNMP)
• Exposure to deploying and maintaining software production environments
• Exposure to managing cloud-based (AWS) and hybrid data centers, VPCs, security architecture, and policies
• Experience with database environments for: Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres
• Proficient in one or more of the following scripting and programming languages: Perl, Ruby, Python and Django

Preferred

Qualifications

• Experience working in IT operations in regulated environments such as healthcare or the financial sector
• Javascript and Node.js experience is a plus
• Medical device software regulation experience is plus (ISO13485, IEC62304, ISO15189, ISO14971, CAP-LAP…etc.)
