McEwen Inc. has four producing mines, located in Nevada, Ontario, Mexico, and Argentina, and also has exposure to copper through its subsidiary McEwen Copper, owner of the large Los Azules copper deposit in Argentina. Our goal is to further develop into a strong and profitable gold and silver producer, focused on the Americas. In order to do that, we need great talent. McEwen Inc. currently has an opening at our Fox Complex Sites for a:

(TEMP - 9 MONTHS) - Surface Mine Heavy Equipment Operator

Reporting to the Mine Surface Services Supervisor, the Surface Mine Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for maintaining roads, hauling underground ore from the open pit to surface quarry and sand to backfill plant, and breaking of oversized material at stockpiles. The Heavy Equipment Operator is an integral part of McEwen Mining Operations team, and they must be a committed team player with a strong knowledge of and dedication to safety, production methods and equipment care. Other duties will be assigned as per operational needs.

All employees are required to be professional, cooperative, and flexible in line with the requirements of the position.

Operational / Technical Execution

• Ensure adherence to all pre-operational checks and procedural requirements to safely start up, efficiently operate, and safely shut down all equipment.
• Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient way adhering in accordance with all relevant legislation, Company policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Perform daily equipment, and work area inspections to identify, minimize and correct safety hazards, conduct quality checks, and ensure that equipment is properly maintained.
• Ensure that in all aspects of the operation, environmental policies and practices are followed, keeping the preservation of the natural environment a priority.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.

General Administration and Controls

• Maintain a clean work environment free of hazards, maintaining high standards, submitting work requests to maintenance personnel.
• Understand and apply safe work practices.
• Load 777 haul truck with underground ore and sand for backfill plant.
• Load topsoil for reclamation work.
• Water roads, sand roads and ramps as needed.
• Break oversize with rock breaker.
• Push dumps and do bench work with dozer.
• Operate grader to maintain roads, dumps and snow removal.
• Load dump trucks with pup trailers.

Qualifications and Skills Requirement

• Must be authorized to work in Canada.
• Valid driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation.
• Ability to work safely, efficiently, and always maintain a safety conscious mentality within the Mining environment.
• Good safety knowledge and understanding with the ability to recognize, reduce or eliminate hazards and situations that may cause problems.
• Self-motivated person, with a positive attitude and possesses strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to interact with a wide variety of departments/roles.
• Ability to maintain attention to detail in a fast moving and demanding environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work with different departments and work unsupervised.
• Flexibility working different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if required.
• Valid First Aid Certificate Considered an Asset.
• Surface Common Core and Surface Heavy Equipment Modules required.
• Experience operating a Komatsu 500 front-end loader preferred.
• Ability to operate other heavy equipment (930 Front End Loader, excavator, 777, wiggle wagon, 988 Loader, 992 Loader, D6 & D9 dozer)
• Surface mining environments - ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions- occasional underground environment.
• Must be physically fit and capable of performing physical labor such as lifting.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
