With an expanding portfolio of Development Projects, STACK Japan seeks to hire a subject matter expert for our Delivery Team. This Position will be responsible for the delivery of an upcoming Data Centre Project.

A Construction Development Project Delivery expert suitable candidate for this position shall be considered a subject matter expert in the design and delivery of complex facilities, managing all aspects of the project, including Design, Procurement, Construction, Cost Control, Change management, Commissioning, and project close-out. Coordinating large project teams of stakeholders, vendors, and contractors. The successful candidate will be a detail-focused, outcome-oriented, and forward-thinking leader who can strategically see the big picture, while also being able to dive into the technical details of project design, procurement, & Construction activities and actions.

The Main Scope of Works:

  • General - Passionate about the data center industry and being an innovator, always looking to bring the forefront of technology into our projects to achieve and exceed our Sustainability, Safety & Efficiency goals.
  • Design phase - Support and work with the STACK engineers on all aspects of mechanical engineering design and technical requirements through the life cycle of the project (Tokyo and Osaka) - review design development from the advice viewpoint of onsite coordination.
  • Procurement phase - Procurement phase - support the procurement and engineering team from the site engineering point of view – including vendor relationships, technical specification, cost, and lead time.
  • Construction phase - Support construction managers and project managers for mechanical engineering management, and support mechanical OSE coordination work with service managers, suppliers, and contractors, such as reviewing and site coordination for shop drawings, production drawings, and construction documentation etc.

* Site engineering – During the construction phase, serve as the on-site mechanical engineering manager to check, review, and advise on minimizing potential issues and anticipated difficulties to ensure a smooth construction process. Maintain STACK technical standards for construction.

  • Testing and Commissioning phase – Support the project team and commissioning team as a mechanical site engineer for all aspects of testing and Commissioning through the process of a successful handover. (L0 – L6)
  • Tenant Fit-out phase - Work with the STACK fit-out managers as a mechanical site engineer to ensure that the tenant fit-out work will be delivered on time.
  • Handover phase - Coordinate with the operation, Cx, and delivery team to finalize the handover process smoothly
  • Work with our engineering team as on-site engineer (SME) to sustain our quality of engineering and make on-site technical decisions with. As SPOC for on-site engineering aspects.

Key Details:

Location: Tokyo, Japan

Travel: 15-20%.

Language: Native Japanese; Secondary English (Business Level - Spoken & Written).

Must-have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineer, Project Management, or relevant built environment field.
  • 5+ years progressive experience in Data Center delivery, with a minimum of 5 years delivering in Japan.
  • Experience in data centers; familiarity with hyperscale clients.
  • Working experience leading and collaborating on 3D Design Tools, BIM process & methodology and implementation of 4D/5D design principles.
  • Working experience in project Management Platforms such as Procore, Clarizen or equivalent.
  • Experienced and competent in MS Project or Primavera P6
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • 5+ years in mechanical engineering in Data Centers with at least 3 years within the Japan Market.
