This is an exciting opportunity to work on flagship Rolls-Royce programs and play a vital role in solving some of the most complex and interesting technological challenges in the industry while being part of a global, multi-disciplinary team. As a Senior Software Safety Engineer-Aerospace Controls, you will develop and maintain the Safety Cases for Electronic Engine Control and Monitoring Systems to ensure the design is single fault tolerant and meets the engine functional hazard rates and all applicable certification requirements. You will be responsible for analyzing software functionality, potential safety hazards associated with software, and developing a robust means of compliance to industry software safety standards. You will support full life cycle development and mentor junior engineers on processes, tools, and technical solutions. In this role, you will have the opportunity to travel up to 20% between Rolls-Royce sites and up to 10% other travel. This is a Remote-First position with periodic occasional in-person meetings or travel to the Indianapolis site required. Remote employees will work with their direct manager to determine the cadence of onsite visits. All remote employees must have a secure, high-speed internet connection and an appropriate workspace that complies with applicable information security and confidentiality requirements. Basic Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 2+ years of product development engineering experience, OR Master’s degree in in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering, OR PhD in degree in in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering Experience with requirements management In order to be eligible for consideration, you must be a U.S. Citizen Preferred Requirements 5+ years of product safety engineering experience Software development or system safety analysis Application of agile development methods to deliver engineering work products Experience with military qualification and/or FAA certification of airborne systems Familiarity with the one or more of the following standards: ARP4754, ARP4761, MIL-STD-882, MIL-STD-1629, DO-178C, DO-254, AMCOM 385 and IEE 1633-2016 Gas turbine engine, propulsion, or electrical control system experience Demonstrated experience with control system design and one or more of the following tools: Fault Tree+, Reliability Workbench, DOORS, Cameo Systems Modeler Knowledge of systems engineering, and robust design tools and techniques coupled with the latest model-centric development approaches What We Offer We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits.
