Job Description:
- The Senior IT Technical Support is responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining, and supporting all aspects of the IT infrastructure for Japan Sites. This role ensures reliable and secure operation of hardware, networks, servers, and IT-related services to meet operational and business objectives, collaborating closely with manufacturing leads and global IT teams
Job Responsibility:
- Oversee the day-to-day IT operations, ensuring smooth functioning of all infrastructure components including networks, servers, workstations, and telecommunications equipment.
- Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software necessary for manufacturing and production (e.g., industrial PCs, control systems, printers, mobile devices).
- Ensure IT systems at the site adhere to global security standards, compliance policies, and data protection regulations, implementing access controls, patching, backup, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Monitor performance and health of critical systems, proactively addressing outages, bottlenecks, or issues impacting production or business continuity.
- Liaise and coordinate with central/global IT service teams and third-party vendors for implementation of new services, troubleshooting, upgrades, and technology refreshes.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation on site infrastructure, system configurations, network architecture, and support processes.
- Provide technical guidance, hands-on support, and training to site staff for hardware, software, and IT policies.
- Lead local IT initiatives and projects (upgrades, migrations, rollouts) and coordinate cross-functional teams for successful project delivery.
- Implement factory automation solutions and support integration with manufacturing execution systems (MES), process control networks, and industrial IoT platforms, as applicable.
Job Qualification:
- Several years’ experience managing IT infrastructure in a manufacturing/industrial/large site environment.
- Strong technical background in server management (Windows/Linux), networking (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi), Active Directory, and virtualization.
- Hands-on experience with endpoint management, cybersecurity, backup and recovery solutions, and troubleshooting complex IT issues.
- Familiarity with industrial IT environments, including automation/control systems, OPC, or SCADA systems, is highly desirable.
- Experience supporting OT (Operational Technology) environments, factory automation, or integration with ERP/MES systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or relevant field.
- Certifications & Professional Development:
- Holding or working toward certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, or comparable credentials.
Desired Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, including on-call support as required by the manufacturing schedule.
- Deep knowledge of network management (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VLANs), server management (Windows/Linux), virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), and Active Directory administration.
- Proficiency in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of servers, workstations, industrial PCs, printers, mobile devices, and related peripherals.
- Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, firewall configuration, endpoint protection, vulnerability assessment, access control management, backup, and disaster recovery best practices.
- Familiarity with operational technology (OT) environments, including automation, PLCs, SCADA systems, MES solutions, and Industrial IoT platforms.
- Strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and vendor management abilities.
Language Requirements: Fluent level Japanese (N1) & Business English conversation skill.
