Quality Specialist

Employment Type: Full-Time, Temporary (at least 6 months with strong potential to extend or more)

Location: Welland, Ontario

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Specialist to join our team on a temporary basis. This role is critical in supporting quality management initiatives, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance with ISO standards. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem solver with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain and enhance existing KPIs and quality metrics.
  • Develop new performance indicators aligned with Quality Management objectives.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and facilitate CIP assessments and projects.

Customer Complaint Management

  • Act as the primary contact for Factory Automation-related complaints.
  • Log and track issues in internal systems, coordinate containment actions, and collaborate with service and warranty teams for root cause analysis.
  • Work with sales and warehouse teams to manage product replacements, credits, and shipping documentation.

Internal Audit Program

  • Lead the ISO 9001 internal audit process in compliance with company procedures.
  • Plan and execute audits, distribute findings, and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Prepare annual audit reports and maintain audit records using designated software tools.

Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR)

  • Oversee NCR processes for products and materials, including inventory control and SAP entries.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues, manage quarantines, and prevent further processing of non-conforming items.

FMEA Coordination

  • Manage annual reviews and updates for Design and Process FMEAs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess risks and implement necessary changes.

Additional Duties

  • Support ESD audits and corrective actions.
  • Facilitate meetings, deliver presentations, and assist with new hire orientation.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Operations Management, or related required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; SAP experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and internal audit processes.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work independently and enforce quality standards in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities (8D, 5-Why, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Project management and time management capabilities.
