Quality Engineer Description: The Quality Engineer is responsible for implementing the principles of the quality policy and ensuring the Factory Operations is meeting quality objectives. He/she will develop and maintain product/process control plans, drive quality system implementation and performance, lead system audits, drive continuous quality improvements and provide internal training. The Quality Engineer is also responsible for the resolution of supplier issues, product issues, and customer support. With a focus on continuous improvement processes, the Quality Engineer must perform a range of duties supporting other teams to ensure sustainable business operations.
Responsibilities: - Develop and maintain control plans and lead new/current product improvements
- Track and resolve open daily quality issues on the shop floor with close collaboration of other departments to ensure issues are containted and closed with precise root cause analysis.
- Drive continuous improvement activities using LEAN manufacturing principles.
- Collaborate with other teams to drive improvements in overall quality, yield and production output.
- Support and drive defined Safety initiatives in daily actions.
- Lead cross-functional teams to investigate quality issues and drive solutions.
- Follow up on crucial Engineering change activities to ensure Engineering Change are processed seamlessly.
- Lead and supervise Quality Control activities that they are effective and timely.
- Assume responsibility for technical responses to customers on quality issues; lead investigations and drive corrective actions.
- Liaise with suppliers during visits, conduct process/system audits.
- Track and resolve open issues pertaining to new product launches, develop control documents and other Customer/Supplier required quality documentation.
- Lead Material Review Boards, new material/process/supplier approval activities.
- Lead internal audits, provide training, coach Junior Quality Technicians
- Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the US Modules Solution Code of Business Conduct
- Support ISO 9001 activities
- Adhere to all environmental, health and safety rules and policies.
- Conduct other duties as required.
- Create Engineering Change Notices (ECN) as related to manufacturing process, quality, and product cost improvements.
- Participate in PFMEA / Control Plan creation.
- Support material supplier qualification, material inspection and testing when needed.
Qualifications and Experience: - Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of 4 years); Special consideration given to Quality Accreditation’s (AQC/AIAG) and technical courses completed (Auditor, etc.)
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a Quality Engineering capacity within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to drive process/product quality control, lean manufacturing.
- Good current working knowledge of AIAG standards (PQP, PPAP & PFMEA) Cpk, SPC, 8D
- Quality Control background, including problem solving and root cause analysis.
- Professional demeanor at all times
- Strong leadership abilities and confident, consistent, decisive personality
- Must be able to work with little supervision, must be self-directed.
- Attention to detail in all area of work
- Desire for innovative thinking and continual learning
- Excellent coaching, mentoring, mediating and negotiating skills.
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills with MS Office and e-mail required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
