Job Description

The Linchpin Co. is a people operations group offering custom recruitment and consulting services. At Linchpin, we know a company's most valuable resource is its people, and we are people experts!

We will be the point of contact between you and our client during the recruitment process, acting as your trusted advisor and coach. We look forward to your interest.

About Our Client

With more than 115 years in business, our client is one of Canada’s leading wholesale distributors of plumbing, HVAC, waterworks, and industrial products. They support residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects across the country — and their success is driven by their people.

Role Overview

As an Operations Development Specialist, you will take part in a structured rotational program designed to accelerate your operational and commercial capabilities. You will gain hands-on experience across warehouse logistics, branch operations, inside and outside sales, purchasing, and project coordination — contributing to real business outcomes from day one.

This role is ideal for someone with foundational customer or sales experience who is ready to build a long-term career in operations and leadership. Upon completion of the program, you will be positioned to step into opportunities aligned with your strengths and interests — from operations or purchasing to account management or branch leadership.

What You’ll Do

Across your rotations, you will:

Supply Chain & Warehouse Operations

• Learn how products move from vendor to customer

• Support receiving, order fulfillment, and inventory management

• Develop strong product knowledge and operational fundamentals

Branch Operations & Customer Experience

• Assist with counter sales, order management, pricing, and credit workflows

• Analyze operational performance and contribute to process improvement

• Engage directly with customers to deliver exceptional service

Inside Sales & Project Coordination

• Support quoting, bids, and solution-based selling for commercial projects

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely order execution

• Maintain strong communication with vendors and customers throughout the lifecycle of each project

Outside Sales & Account Growth

• Participate in field sales activities and customer visits

• Identify revenue opportunities and support sales strategy execution

• Build and nurture long-term relationships with key accounts

By the end of the program, you’ll have the knowledge and exposure to confidently chart your ideal career path.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in sales, customer experience, operations, or a related business function

• Post-secondary education in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

• A proactive and solution-oriented mindset

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail

• Ability to thrive independently and in collaborative environments

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning new systems

• A growth mindset and a strong desire to advance

Why Build Your Career Here?

• Clear development pathway and high internal mobility across the business

• Competitive salary, benefits, and profit-sharing program

• Employer-contributed pension plan

• Mentorship and ongoing training from experienced industry leaders

• A fun, supportive, and values-driven culture

• Flex time and work-life balance
