Embedded Mental Health & Performance Psychology Professional DURO Health LLC is seeking mental health professionals to be part of its innovative and growing human performance team! Embedded within military unit communities, DURO human performance teams advance health and performance best practices through its mission-focused approach in support of the diverse needs of the Department of Defense’s elite operational communities. DURO is seeking a Mental Health & Performance Psychology Professional to provide a full range of psychological support to members assigned to the 125th Special Tactics Squadron in Portland, Oregon. This position will be operationally-oriented centered on employing psychological services towards performance optimization, injury/illness prevention, and restoration/rehabilitation of elite-class military operational personnel. Education/Experience/Skills/Training for Consideration: Master’s degree in Sport/Performance Psychology from an accredited educational institution. Additional degrees considered: master’s degree in psychology/counseling, master’s degree industrial/organizational psychology. Minimum of three years of experience working with elite athletes/Military SOF experience. Prior experience working with interdisciplinary team of health and human performance professionals is preferred. Demonstrate a working knowledge of professional standards and ethics regarding the delivery of psychology programs. Experience working in embedded performance setting. Capable of meeting physical demands including the ability to lift 50lbs, hike over rough terrain, and willing to observe training in field conditions. Demonstrate computer literacy sufficient to operate a personal computer utilizing word processing, database/spread sheet programs, and possess basic typing skills sufficient to efficiently produce own reports and correspondence. Oral and written communication skills in English required. Maintain a Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Maintain (or be able to obtain within 12 months) certification as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) from the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). Must be a member in good standing with AASP or maintain (or be able to obtain) practice privileges as either a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) (or equivalent license). Experience and training in the assessment and treatment of alcohol and substance abuse conditions, domestic violence, child abuse, post-traumatic stress, suicide intervention, mood and anxiety conditions, and family/marital issues is preferred. Counseling experience preferred Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop, plan, and initiate programs in the areas of performance enhancement, resilience, and organizational effectiveness to support all aspects of operator readiness. Provide individualized and group-oriented programming to include working with operators and their families. Provide technical expertise and consultation regarding research in mental health, mental performance, and organizational effectiveness to unit leadership and human performance team. Manage relevant process improvements, program validation, and research initiatives. Administer and interpret a full spectrum of psychological assessment tools for individual operators and provide collective unit reports to squadron leadership. Provide follow-up assessments, and feedback sessions with operators in order to guide their pursuit of peak performance and support well-being. Meet regularly with unit leadership as part of human performance team to provide consultation on unit performance, well-being, and overall effectiveness. Enhance planning for response and follow-up care for cases of unit casualty, serious injury, significant life events, and crisis incidents (including suicide intervention). Function as a liaison and coordinate with military and community behavioral health professionals in order to provide referrals for unit members and their families.
