Mechanical Engineer
Fabtronic Inc. is an industry leader in the development and production of Paint Assist Aids used by automotive manufactures to ensure the quality of their products during production. We provide unique services and specialized make-to-order products for Fiat/Chrysler, Ford Inc., General Motors, Nissan, Toyota, and several others. Our products are found in over 20 assembly plants throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico.
Applicants for this position will be directing the activities responsible for proper management of workflow, cost, and quality within the production department. Products lines include small-to-medium scale fabrications, low-to-medium volume metal or plastic assemblies, and high-volume sheet metal stampings or plastic injection moldings. Positional requirements include designing the process that optimizes the output and quality of welding centers, forming centers, stamping centers, CNC milling centers, and CNC lasers during the production cycle.
Responsibilities
Lead the creation, implementation and monitoring of production processes by applying science based practices and professional standards
Assist the Production Manager in planning and scheduling products for production
Work alongside the Product Development Team to assess designs for completeness, manufacturability, and quality risks
Collaborate with the Tool and Fixture Team on specialty tooling required to accurately and efficiently produce product
Optimize job routers, work orders, and quality inspection standards/documentation used through the production cycle
Interface with the Quality Manager on post-production assessments in compliance with continuous improvement principles

Required Knowledge
Advanced knowledge of JIT and Flexible Lean Manufacturing principles
Basic Knowledge of CAE, project management, and drafting theory
Experience with ISO 9001:2008 QMS
Knowledge of FMEA and Risk Management
Knowledge of MRP applications, Purchasing, and Logistics
Understanding of tool and fixture design
Familiar with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Degrees of Standardization (DOS) principles
Familiar with CNC machining, plastic injection molding, sheet metal stamping, and Flexible Job Shop fabrication/manufacturing

Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Production Management
3-5 years of experience in batch order parts manufacturing/design
Or
Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology or a Technical Equivalent
5+ years of experience in batch order parts manufacturing/design
