George Fox University's Plant Services department is looking for someone to join their team as a Locksmith to repair and maintain campus buildings; providing well cared for spaces in which employees and students work, study and live.

About the Job : The Locksmith will have an opportunity to make a lasting impact on our students and employees. A key member in overseeing campus security, the locksmith is responsible for maintaining secure and accessible buildings.

Job Responsibilities Include, but Are Not Limited To:

• Installing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of locks, locking systems, and security hardware for university facilities, including residential halls, academic buildings, and administrative offices.
• Maintaining key control systems and records, ensuring proper issuance, return, and tracking of all university keys and access cards.
• Collaborating with Campus Public Safety and Facilities teams to support campus safety and access control standards.
• Responding to emergency lockouts and security concerns during and outside of regular working hours, as needed.
• Conducting periodic audits of locking systems to ensure compliance with university policies and local codes.
• Recommending upgrades to locking and security systems to support campus safety and stewardship goals.
• Following policy and the approval process when granting access (by key, code or card).
• Providing courteous, service-oriented support to faculty, staff, and students in a manner that reflects the values of the university.
• Maintaining inventory of parts and supplies, and assisting with procurement in coordination with Facilities leadership.
• Following all applicable safety regulations and protocols when handling tools and materials.
• Providing an on-site presence during emergency situations or severe weather to maintain operational support and safety.
• Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
• By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
• Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
• Other duties as assigned.

A Day in the Life of This Position:

This position monitors the card lock program, updating access permissions and building hours daily. Responding to door and lock malfunctions. Creating keys. Progressing on long-term projects like building key updates.

We're Looking for Candidates Who Have:

• A high school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in locksmithing preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in locksmithing, access control, or a related trade.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electronic locking systems, including keyless entry and master key systems.
• Familiarity with ADA, fire, and building code compliance related to locking hardware.
• The ability to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical diagrams.
• Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to work independently.
• The ability to demonstrate discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling security-sensitive materials.
• A clean driving record along with the ability to provide proof of a valid driver's license and pass the University Driver Certification.

• Experienced installing residential and commercial doors including Timely and Hollow Metal Frames

• Working Conditions: Physical requirements could include lifting more than 25 pounds and performing any activities such as balancing, bending/stooping, climbing stairs, crawling, crouching, climbing ladders, kneeling, repetitive motion or reaching above shoulder level.
