The Role

As an Electrical Technologist at KGS Group your primary duties will be to prepare engineering models, drawings and documents, perform site inspections to gather data, and to assist electrical engineers with project specific tasks. You will produce models and drawings using primarily AutoCAD, and documents with Microsoft Office software. You will work to complete tasks independently as well as collaborate as part of a design team.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare engineering models and drawings with AutoCAD.
  • Perform various design tasks for new and modified electrical systems.
  • Perform field inspections and measurements.
  • Summarize field observations and measurements in reports and/or integrate them into designs.
  • Assist in gathering technical information for reports, specifications and analysis.
  • Perform basic calculations and present them in a logical and organized manner.
  • Effectively and accurately communicate information and ideas.

About You

To fill the role, we’re looking for an applicant who brings forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experiences. Some highlights could include:

  • Completion of a three-year electrical engineering technology diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Previous work experience with building electrical distribution, lighting systems, MV or HV applications, generators, transformers, switchgears, MCC’s, PLC automation, SCADA, or control systems.
  • Prior experience with 3D modeling or drafting software platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Possess knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Ability to successfully work to meet tight deadlines while producing accurate and highly detailed drawings and technical documents.
  • Work efficiently and effectively with little supervision, as an individual and with a team.
  • Be capable of visualizing and communicating complex details.
  • Willingness to learn new software programs.
  • Be capable of communicating effectively, both orally and through written communication.
  • Be committed to a high quality of work.
  • Ability to travel to project sites on an as required basis for ½ day or 1 day site visits.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).

The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $90,000 annually.
