Job Description

The Disability Case Manager is responsible for the assessment, coordination, and management of both Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) claims. This role ensures accurate claim adjudication, effective communication among stakeholders, and supports clients through the disability process, including return-to-work planning or accommodation strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage STD and LTD claims in compliance with applicable policies, laws, and industry standards.
• Review medical and vocational documentation to determine eligibility and duration of benefits.
• Coordinate independent medical evaluations and functional assessments as needed.
• Communicate regularly with claimants, healthcare providers, employers, and insurance carriers.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized return-to-work or accommodation plans.
• Maintain comprehensive, confidential case notes and documentation.
• Ensure adherence to privacy laws, company policies, and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Degree in nursing, social work, rehabilitation, or a related field.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience handling STD and LTD claims.
• Certification in Case Management (e.g., CCM, CDMS) preferred.
• Strong understanding of disability legislation, including FMLA, ADA, and workers' compensation.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with case management software and MS Office Suite.
