What we need

We are currently seeking a Technical Services Director, whose skills will contribute to our organization's mission.

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • The leadership and management of the proper operation of the physical and security services of the spa facilities by ensuring the effective use of the department's human, financial and material resources;
  • The development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that the spa complies with laws, standards and regulations governing the proper operation of the facilities and the safety guidelines as well as the company's standards;
  • The care and maintenance of the spa's facilities and equipment (interior and exterior) as well as the management of construction and renovation projects;
  • The management of service contracts and the energy conservation program.

What you’ll do

Management Activities: planning, organization and control

  • Provide leadership in planning, organizing and directing the activities of the department in order to achieve the strategic objectives of the company and ensure compliance of physical facilities and services with current laws, codes, standards and regulations.
  • Ensure successful implementation and use of a preventive maintenance system (CMMS) for facilities and allocate the necessary resources;
  • Oversee the execution and control of work related to the preventive and corrective maintenance of the building's equipment and systems.
  • Oversee the monitoring and computerized follow-up of the operating conditions of the various systems;
  • Manage the planning, preparation, follow-up and control of the department budgets.
  • Ensure the health and safety of the spa, (eg. emergency response plan) without interruption and in accordance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • Analyze and regularly review performance indicators of safety initiatives and systems in place with a view to improving them;
  • Effectively manage the procurement of replacement parts, chemicals and other supplies;
  • Validate compliance with the various codes, laws, standards and norms applicable to the environment, buildings and equipment.
  • Establish and ensure mechanisms are in place to manage, monitor and evaluate a wide variety of subcontracts (e.g., security, fire alarm, building systems maintenance, security) ensuring compliance with laws/codes and regulations and optimal use of available resources;
  • Supervise, control and coordinate the work of subcontractors or external suppliers in accordance with established standards;
  • Validate that the work environment is safe and that health and safety policies, procedures and standards are followed by staff and contracted vendors.
  • Oversee waste management, energy and water conservation and land maintenance;
  • Ensure the management and application of the Space Management Plan.
  • Recommend and implement measures to improve building energy performance.

Leadership and collaboration

  • Provide administrative leadership in the management and direction of support staff. Determine priorities, workloads and work schedules;
  • Ensure procedures in place for the effective recruitment, selection, training, development and evaluation of staff;
  • Ensure the implementation of changes required for the smooth operation of the department
  • Direct the implementation of all other contractual services (staff, consultants, contractors) required to provide the services offered by the department;
  • Coordinate with other departments of the company on major projects and initiatives affecting them and the experience.

Profile needed

  • College diploma (DEC) related to building mechanics, asset management or other related discipline.
  • Bachelor degree in engineering would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a management position in a building maintenance team or related experience.
  • Aptitudes for manual and technical work;
  • Strong organisational skills;
  • Ability to develop strong energies fully mobilized on the achievement of objectives;
  • Sense of challenge, perseverance;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, action and results-oriented;
  • Resistance to stress.
