Department Overview The U.S. Food Safety & Quality Systems Team is part of the North America Supply Chain function that enables the McDonald’s System to connect customers with food they love and trust. Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities Lead USFSQS Strategic Planning for data analytics/integration, team and system tools, and emerging/evolving food safety and regulatory risks to understand and communicate State of FSQS and guide areas of team’s FSQS focus. Lead realization of USFSQS team Goals & KPIs via collaboration with team, business and oversight of internal and 3rd party/external resources. Mentor, coach and support People Development and foster an environment where everyone has equal opportunity to succeed. Define and lead Prioritization, Agility & Consistency processes and ways of working, focusing on Driving Results and Outcomes most meaningful to the customer and business today and for tomorrow (future-proofing). Key Needs of the Role Strengthen and innovate data management systems, team and system tools as well as ways of working and emerging/evolving food safety and regulatory risk communication and management tools. Drive data integration and interpretation, using team and system tools to facilitate translation of data into “reality” and communicate critical path forward. Embrace artificial intelligence (AI) integration into tools and FSQS data management strategies. Refine and execute a system communications strategy/message map to strengthen systems awareness of the “State of FSQS” and progress against team KPIs. Lead the process of identifying, influencing and communicating proposed and pending food safety regulatory changes and issues potentially impacting the 3LS. Lead management and governance of foundational US FSQS policies, programs, and ways of working. Lead and strengthen the team and system Crisis Management tools, including stock recoveries. Collaborate across all 3LS, maximizing impact as a member of the U.S Supply Chain Director team and across the US and GSC/global business to influence change, manage opportunities and improve overall business system performance. Benchmark within and outside the system, sharing the McDonald’s story, partnering and collaborating on industry issues, to identify and integrate best-in-class FSQS practices including data management strategies and foundational processes to drive FSQS excellence. Qualifications Leadership and individual skills required: ability to build trust and credibility as a valued business partner, anticipatory issues identification and risk management; establishing and institutionalizing programs within a complex organization; ability to successfully influence and manage stakeholder expectations through effective communication; leading through complexity and ambiguity; and, effectively leveraging subject matter expertise to support others, take appropriate risks and create value. Leadership of technical services, food safety, quality systems, and/or scientific & regulatory affairs function(s), including managing compliance and improving performance within a commercial business environment. Demonstrated passion and commitment to coaching and developing others. 10+ years of experience with an ingredient/food manufacturing company and/or retailer with a demonstrated ability to strategically plan and lead, influence change and direction, and deliver results that matter most for the business and customer. Advanced degree/education in food safety and/or related fields preferred—e.g., food science, microbiology, environmental health, animal/agricultural sciences, veterinary medicine. The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we may also consider your experience and other job-related factors.
