Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Counselling, Education, or related field preferred.
- Graduate of a top-tier U.S. or U.K. university.
- Experience in college counselling or admissions, preferably in an international or bilingual school setting.
- Strong knowledge of global university systems (North America, UK, Europe, Japan).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with international application platforms (Common App, UCAS, etc.).
- Ability to design and deliver engaging workshops for students and parents.
- Multilingual skills (English required; Japanese preferred).
- Teaching license with PSHE experience is a plus but not required.
Job Description
College & Career Guidance
- Advise students and families on academic planning, subject selection, and extracurricular activities to meet global university requirements.
- Provide guidance on standardized testing (SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS) and application processes for international and domestic universities.
- Organize workshops and information sessions for students and parents on college readiness, application strategies, and financial aid (including some Saturdays).
- Build relationships with universities and maintain up-to-date knowledge of global admissions trends.
Student Support & Development
- Offer individual and group counseling to support academic, career, and personal goals.
- Help students explore career interests and connect them to relevant opportunities.
- Ensure equitable access to resources and culturally responsive counseling for all students.
- Support Year 7–9 students with subject selection, portfolio development, and early career exploration.
- Guide Year 10–11 students through essay writing, application preparation, and portfolio completion.
Program Management
- Develop and implement a structured college counseling program for Grades 7–11.
- Track student progress and maintain accurate records of counseling activities.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to integrate college readiness into the school curriculum.
Additional Responsibilities
- Conduct one-on-one student meetings and parent information sessions.
- Lead proactive workshops and participate in school events such as Open Days.
- Support community service initiatives (e.g., Duke of Edinburgh Award).
