Description

General Description:

Provides individualized career coaching to support participants in completing educational or occupational skills training, securing, and retaining gainful employment, and achieving long-term career goals. Maintains documentation in alignment with program requirements and tracks progress toward outcomes.

Essential Functions :
  • Deliver a comprehensive orientation on the program, including available resources, eligibility criteria, and participant benefits.
  • Conduct intake, assessment, and tracking using standardized tools to evaluate participant goals, barriers, and service needs in alignment with City-established guidelines.
  • Verify eligibility and enroll qualified participants, ensuring services are tailored to individual needs and compliant with City-established criteria.
  • Refer participants to additional support and services; SAFB Neighbor Services to support with federal benefit applications and other entities that provide resources like financial literacy and life-training skills to support long-term stability as well as wraparound services (e.g., basic needs, transportation, childcare, connectivity, record expungement, school and work supplies, and transcript requests, etc.). All referrals should include follow-up to ensure service delivery.
  • Ensure participant data is entered accurately and timely across all required databases.
  • Apply a participant-centered approach in all aspects of the career coaching process, empowering individuals to take an active role in their career development and goal setting.
  • Engage participants in exploring career pathways aligned with their interests, skillset, and local labor market demands.
  • Co-develop individualized Career and Education Plans outlining specific goals, timelines, and measurable milestones.
  • Provide ongoing career coaching, mentorship, and motivational support.
  • Enroll participants in appropriate training, certification, or education programs, including HSE (High School Equivalency) courses.
  • Manage tuition, fee payment processing, and coordinate the use of Last-Dollar and Braided Funding in line with City-established guidelines.
  • Support participants with job search and retention services through the first 90 days and up to one year of employment.
  • Facilitate participant placement into high-demand, living-wage careers aligned with the industries of their completed training or education programs.
  • Measure participant experience by soliciting real-time feedback via surveys and assessments.
  • Maintain regular (monthly) communication to assess progress and address challenges.
  • Collaborate with local employers, City officials, education and training providers, and other stakeholders to align talent development with workforce needs and support participant success.
  • Ensure all program outcomes and performance metrics are met or exceeded.
  • Maintain thorough, up-to-date case records in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties assigned to support program operations and workforce development goals, which may occasionally involve evening or weekend work.
Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field like counseling, social work, education, business, psychology, or human resources preferred.
  • Prior experience in career counseling, employment coaching, workforce development, student support services or human resources preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge/exhibited compassion of hunger and poverty issues.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills .
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (such as Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Exercise good judgment and discretion; strong ethical character capable of handling confidential information.
  • Willingness to engage participants and the community.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively under pressure and communicate with a broad range of people both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Capacity to understand and follow instructions on complex matters.
  • Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions.

Work Environment

This job is performed in an indoor office environment and occasionally may require attendance at outdoor events. You may be required to drive to various locations with varying conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
