Duty Schedule:

Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with lunch break.

Summary/Objective of Position:

Under the general supervision of the Controller; incumbent will help maintain the flow of business at Tsaile Bookstore/Warrior Shop by providing outstanding customer service to students, Dine college employees, and the general public. Directes and provides a variety of sales, stocking, shipping and receiving support for the operation of the college Bookstore/Warrior Shop; performs related duties as required or assigned.

  • Operates POS (Point of Sale) register for all sales transactions, i.e. cash, credit/debit cards, student & employee charges (AR transactions), compiles various reports, and end of shift reports.
  • Provide customer services by: answering phone calls from customers (vendor,s students, employees, departments, etc.), answering textbook order questions via Follet Online Bookstore site.
  • Assist in ordering, receiving, pricing, and stocking merchandise using Dine College required documents, policies and procurement procedures.
  • Operate typical office equipment: computer, scanning, and photocopying, and/or other office equipment.
  • Perform monthly, semi-annual and annual inventory of merchandise in the bookstore.
  • Manage merchandise inventory and prepare inventory reports.
  • Preparation of Online requisition requests for placing merchandise orders or payments to vendors.
  • Process inter-department charge requests.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

Minimum:

  • High School Education.

Preferred:

  • Associate Degree in business, accounting, retail management or finance.

Knowledge:

  • Two years related work experience of retail sales and/or cashiering experience, and
  • One-year office support which provides the capabilities to perform the describe duties.

Skills:

  • Maintain a professional work environment.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with vendors, departments, staff, and students.
  • Must have good customer services skills and able to work with students/vendor/departments/staff.
  • Retail cashiering and customer services practices.
  • Basic practices of cash control and management.
  • Inventory management knowledge and skills to point of sale system.
  • Basic decision-making skills.

Abilities:

  • Oral fluency in Navajo is desirable by not mandatory.
  • Experience and skilled with office automation.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evening or weekends, when needed.
  • Obtain defensive driving certificate to operate GSA.

Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:

  • Experience with handling, lifting, and maneuvering merchandise up to 50 pounds.
  • The work will require the employee to stand for long periods at a time helping customers at the register or help finding merchandise throughout the bookstore.
  • Must be available to travel to purchase resale items that can only be purchases in-store, when needed.

Other Requirement(s):

  • Must have a valid state driver's license.
  • Knowledge in operating GSA/DC Vehicle.
