Job Description

Our client, a leading organization in the non-profit sector, is seeking a Bilingual Communications Specialist to lead French-language communications, marketing, and public relations efforts. This role primarily supports francophone audiences in Quebec, helping to expand the organization’s reach and ensure messaging resonates with its French-speaking membership base. As the organization strengthens its presence in Quebec, this position is pivotal in shaping and executing effective communications that align with both regional sensitivities and the national strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, proofread, and provide strategic advice on a range of French-language communications including: Member emails, advocacy updates, compliance info, media kits, and promotional materials.
  • Draft scripts, speeches, and presentations for key events targeting Quebec audiences (e.g., National Conference, National Payroll Week).
  • Identify creative and multimedia needs (e.g., photography, video) for French-language campaigns and events.
  • Develop and localize advertorials, PR content, press releases, and advertising for francophone and Quebec-specific media.
  • Provide French content for social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn), ensuring consistent tone and brand alignment.
  • Maintain and update French sections of the corporate website, ensuring alignment with current brand, product messaging, and SEO principles.
  • Support French-language PR and media outreach and may serve as a French spokesperson when required.
  • Lead and coordinate bilingual communications campaigns from planning through delivery.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for French-language/Quebec consultants and vendors.
  • Provide expert insight and strategic advice across departments regarding French communications.
  • Support internal teams with French-language best practices and campaign planning.
  • Assist in the strategic development of outreach to the Quebec market.
  • Contribute to the development of annual operational plans and budgets related to French-language communication initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Fluency in both French and English (written and verbal) is essential.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a bilingual communications role (e.g., agency setting, internal comms, journalism, social media).
  • Exceptional French writing, editing, and proofreading skills; knowledge of Quebec French is a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to develop compelling, targeted content for francophone audiences.
  • Strong project management and interpersonal collaboration skills.
  • Experience with digital tools including CMS, email marketing platforms, and social media (LinkedIn, Twitter) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or basic design/multimedia tools is a plus.

Work Environment & Culture

  • Hybrid work model, 3 days in-office (Toronto) work required.
