Global cybersecurity leader specializing in Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) solutions is expanding its Tokyo engineering team. The company protects enterprise customers worldwide by analyzing massive volumes of threat data from millions of endpoints in real-time.

The Role

• Join the core engineering team building a completely next-generation EDR platform that has secured board-level funding and is moving into production phase
• Design and implement backend services in Rust that process data from 6 million sensors streaming 1,000 messages per minute with sub-second response times
• Build data ingestion pipelines and microservices that maintain reliability under extreme throughput while optimizing cloud infrastructure costs
• Architect scalable distributed systems using containerization, cloud-native technologies and streaming data platforms
• Develop APIs and integrations connecting security tools across enterprise IT environments
• Collaborate with an international engineering team (English-speaking) to implement AI-driven threat detection capabilities
• Work on genuinely complex technical challenges where system reliability isn't optional. It's mission-critical!

Your Skills

Essential Requirements:

• Production experience in Rust required (or exceptionally strong C++/Go/Java with immediate willingness to transition to Rust)
• Proven track record building high-scale distributed systems handling millions of users or data points, not just thousands
• Deep understanding of system reliability trade-offs: performance versus cost, speed versus fault tolerance
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), containerization, and microservice architecture patterns
• Solid foundation working with both SQL and NoSQL databases; streaming data systems experience is a bonus
• Currently based in Japan or hold valid work authorization to work in Tokyo
• English language proficiency for international team collaboration

Welcome Experience:

• Background in cybersecurity, SIEM systems, or observability platforms
• Experience with Kafka, Flink, Redpanda, or other data streaming technologies
• Familiarity with ELK stack, time-series databases, or real-time analytics frameworks
• Previous work optimizing cloud infrastructure costs at scale
